Code Information

The immobiliser system prevents the engine from starting unless a valid, programmed key is recognised. On these vehicles the Engine Control Module (ECM) and the Immobiliser Control Unit (IMMU) exchange a coded signal over a dedicated communication line each time the ignition is switched on. DTC P1612 sets when the ECM cannot establish or maintain this communication with the IMMU, so the coded handshake that authorises starting fails.
