About C1699

C1699 is a manufacturer-specific chassis diagnostic trouble code recorded for Ford vehicles. It belongs to the C-prefix family of codes, which covers chassis, braking, steering, suspension, or stability-control faults.

When C1699 is stored, the module has detected a short-circuit (voltage pulled to ground or to supply) in the monitored circuit; and a sensor-related fault — the reported value from the named sensor is out of spec.

Scanning & clearing: Chassis (C) codes are stored in the ABS, traction control, or stability-control modules. An enhanced or OEM-level scan tool is usually required to read and clear them.

C1699 is a manufacturer-specific code. The same code string on a different make may have a different meaning. Always confirm the code's definition against the vehicle's service information for the specific make and model under test.

Code Information

DTC C1699 is set by the Parking Aid Module (PAM) when it detects that the left rear parking aid sensor circuit is shorted to battery voltage (Vbat). The parking aid system uses ultrasonic sensors mounted in the rear bumper to measure the distance to obstacles while reversing, and the module continuously monitors each sensor circuit for open circuits, shorts to ground, and shorts to voltage. When the signal or return circuit for the left rear sensor reads at or near battery voltage instead of its expected level, the module sets C1699, disables the parking aid function, and typically alerts the ...
