B1245 — Wiper Rear Motor Run Relay Circuit Short to Battery
System: Body | Type: Manufacturer-Specific | Make: Generic
B1245 is a manufacturer-specific body diagnostic trouble code. It belongs to the B-prefix family of codes, which covers body, interior, airbag, or comfort-electronics faults.
When B1245 is stored, the module has detected a short-circuit (voltage pulled to ground or to supply) in the monitored circuit.
Scanning & clearing: Body (B) codes are often stored in the body control module, airbag module, or climate module. A basic OBD-II tool usually will not read body codes — an enhanced or OEM-level scan tool is typically required.
B1245 is a manufacturer-specific code. The same code string on a different make may have a different meaning. Always confirm the code's definition against the vehicle's service information for the specific make and model under test.
The rear wiper motor run relay is energised by the body control module or wiper control module through a low side drive, with the module pulling the relay coil control pin to ground when rear wipe is commanded. The module monitors the voltage on that drive wire and expects to see a pull up voltage (typically battery voltage or a reference voltage) at rest, and near 0V when actively commanded. DTC B1245 is set when the module detects that the coil drive wire is stuck at battery voltage when it should be pulled to ground, or when a short to the 12V supply prevents the module from controlling the...
