The Body Control Module (BCM) monitors the decklid punch out sensor as part of the vehicle's perimeter security system. This sensor is mounted at the trunk lock cylinder assembly and is designed to detect tampering, specifically a forced entry attempt where the lock cylinder is physically pushed out of the decklid.
