Code Information

The Powertrain Control Module uses the upstream heated oxygen sensor to control fuel delivery in closed loop and the downstream sensor to monitor catalytic converter efficiency, and it expects each to behave in a characteristically different way. A healthy upstream sensor switches rapidly between roughly 0.1V and 0.9V several times per second as the module cycles the mixture either side of stoichiometric, while a downstream sensor sitting behind an effective catalyst produces a much slower, flatter signal hovering around 0.6V to 0.7V.
