On this Ford system the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) uses adaptive fuel control to keep the air to fuel ratio near stoichiometric based on the Bank 2 oxygen sensor feedback. DTC P1153 sets when the Bank 2 fuel control has shifted lean, meaning the PCM has had to add a large amount of fuel through positive fuel trim to correct a persistent lean condition and has reached the limit of its adaptive authority.
