Pedal Position Sensor B circuit high input
P1223 — Pedal Position Sensor B circuit high input
System: Powertrain | Type: Manufacturer-Specific | Make: Ford
P1223 is a manufacturer-specific powertrain diagnostic trouble code recorded for Ford vehicles. It belongs to the P-prefix family of codes, which covers engine, transmission, emissions, or fuel-system faults.
When P1223 is stored, the module has detected a signal or supply voltage higher than the expected operating range; and a sensor-related fault — the reported value from the named sensor is out of spec.
Scanning & clearing: A generic OBD-II scan tool will usually read and clear powertrain (P) codes. For live data, freeze-frame capture, and bi-directional tests you may need a more capable scan tool that supports the vehicle's ECM protocol.
P1223 is a manufacturer-specific code. The same code string on a different make may have a different meaning. Always confirm the code's definition against the vehicle's service information for the specific make and model under test.
The Accelerator Pedal Position (APP) sensor provides the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) with more than one signal so it can cross check driver demand, and sensor B is one of these signals. DTC P1223 is set when the PCM detects that the pedal position sensor B signal voltage is above its normal operating range, a high input condition. This usually means the signal is shorted to a voltage source or to the reference, the sensor ground is open, or the sensor element is producing too high an output. Because the PCM compares the pedal signals against each other, a high B signal that disagrees with ...
