DTC P1153 is a Honda specific code indicating the front, or upstream, Heated Oxygen Sensor on the left hand bank is switching too slowly or too infrequently between rich and lean. The Powertrain Control Module (PCM) uses this primary sensor to trim fuel in closed loop, expecting the signal to cross its switch point many times per second as fuelling oscillates. When the sensor ages, becomes contaminated, or its heater is weak, the signal becomes lazy and the PCM logs insufficient switching.
