Code Information

On Audi and Volkswagen diesel engines with distributor or inline injection pumps, one injector, most commonly cylinder 3, contains a needle lift sensor. This is an inductive sensor consisting of a coil and a magnetised pin that sits above the injector needle, so as the needle lifts to begin injection the changing magnetic field induces a small alternating voltage in the coil.
