Code Information

On Audi and Volkswagen diesel engines with an electronically controlled distributor injection pump, the Engine Control Module holds injection timing in closed loop. It calculates a specified start of injection from engine speed, load, coolant temperature and altitude, then measures the actual start of injection using the needle lift sensor fitted in one injector, and drives the timing control valve, commonly designated N108, with a variable duty cycle to move the pump timing piston until the two values agree.
