Code Information

The ignition coil primary circuit carries the current that builds the magnetic field in the coil before it collapses to generate the secondary spark voltage. On these Audi and Volkswagen engines the coil primary is supplied with battery voltage and switched on the low side by an output stage, either built into the coil or housed in a separate ignition module, under the control of the Engine Control Module.
