Code Information

On coil on plug ignition systems the Engine Control Module controls each cylinder's coil individually, supplying the coil with battery voltage and switching an output stage on the low side to charge the primary winding for the dwell period. Between dwell events the module expects the control line to return toward battery voltage through the coil winding, so a line held low tells it something other than its own driver is earthing the circuit.
