Wheel speed sensor circuit open
P1502 — Wheel speed sensor circuit open
System: Powertrain | Type: Manufacturer-Specific | Make: Hyundai
P1502 is a manufacturer-specific powertrain diagnostic trouble code recorded for Hyundai vehicles. It belongs to the P-prefix family of codes, which covers engine, transmission, emissions, or fuel-system faults.
When P1502 is stored, the module has detected an open (broken or disconnected) electrical path in the monitored circuit; and a sensor-related fault — the reported value from the named sensor is out of spec.
Scanning & clearing: A generic OBD-II scan tool will usually read and clear powertrain (P) codes. For live data, freeze-frame capture, and bi-directional tests you may need a more capable scan tool that supports the vehicle's ECM protocol.
P1502 is a manufacturer-specific code. The same code string on a different make may have a different meaning. Always confirm the code's definition against the vehicle's service information for the specific make and model under test.
The wheel speed sensor provides a road speed signal used by the vehicle control systems, and on this application the Engine Control Module monitors that circuit for integrity. DTC P1502 is set on Hyundai and Kia vehicles when the ECM detects an open circuit in the wheel speed sensor signal, meaning the expected speed pulses are absent. The sensor is typically a magnetic or hall effect type reading a toothed reluctor at the wheel or driveline, and an open in the sensor, its wiring, or its connector stops the signal reaching the module. Depending on the system the driver may notice an inoperativ...
