When P1506 is stored, the module has detected an open (broken or disconnected) electrical path in the monitored circuit; and a short-circuit (voltage pulled to ground or to supply) in the monitored circuit.

Code Information

Many Hyundai and Kia idle air control valves use two windings, an opening coil and a closing coil, that the Engine Control Module drives in opposition to position the valve and control idle air. DTC P1506 is set when the ECM detects a short circuit in the opening coil side of the idle air control valve, where the winding or its wiring is shorted to ground, to voltage, or internally, drawing excessive current.
