Throttle motor short circuit
P1124 — Throttle motor short circuit
System: Powertrain | Type: Manufacturer-Specific | Make: Infiniti
P1124 is a manufacturer-specific powertrain diagnostic trouble code recorded for Infiniti vehicles. It belongs to the P-prefix family of codes, which covers engine, transmission, emissions, or fuel-system faults.
When P1124 is stored, the module has detected a short-circuit (voltage pulled to ground or to supply) in the monitored circuit.
Scanning & clearing: A generic OBD-II scan tool will usually read and clear powertrain (P) codes. For live data, freeze-frame capture, and bi-directional tests you may need a more capable scan tool that supports the vehicle's ECM protocol.
P1124 is a manufacturer-specific code. The same code string on a different make may have a different meaning. Always confirm the code's definition against the vehicle's service information for the specific make and model under test.
DTC P1124 relates to the throttle motor circuit within the electric throttle control actuator on Nissan and Infiniti vehicles. The Engine Control Module (ECM) drives the throttle motor through an H bridge output and monitors the current flow, setting this code when it detects a short circuit condition in the motor windings or the drive wiring that produces abnormally high current. A short to ground, a short between the two motor control wires, or a shorted motor winding will all cause the ECM to register P1124. When this code is active the throttle defaults to a spring held fail safe position,...
