Throttle motor short circuit
P1128 — Throttle motor short circuit
System: Powertrain | Type: Manufacturer-Specific | Make: Nissan
P1128 is a manufacturer-specific powertrain diagnostic trouble code recorded for Nissan vehicles. It belongs to the P-prefix family of codes, which covers engine, transmission, emissions, or fuel-system faults.
When P1128 is stored, the module has detected a short-circuit (voltage pulled to ground or to supply) in the monitored circuit.
Scanning & clearing: A generic OBD-II scan tool will usually read and clear powertrain (P) codes. For live data, freeze-frame capture, and bi-directional tests you may need a more capable scan tool that supports the vehicle's ECM protocol.
P1128 is a manufacturer-specific code. The same code string on a different make may have a different meaning. Always confirm the code's definition against the vehicle's service information for the specific make and model under test.
The throttle control motor inside the electronic throttle body is driven directly by the Engine Control Module (ECM) through a two wire motor circuit, opening and closing the throttle valve on command. DTC P1128 is set when the ECM detects a short circuit in the throttle control motor circuit itself, such as a short to ground, a short to power, or shorted motor windings drawing excessive current. When this code sets, the ECM shuts off power to the throttle motor so the return spring closes the valve to a default position, putting the engine into a reduced power fail safe mode. Common causes ar...
