Code Information

The fuel gauge tank sensor, also called the fuel level sensor, uses a float and variable resistor in the fuel tank to report fuel level to the Engine Control Module (ECM) and instrument cluster. The ECM uses fuel level partly to decide when conditions are suitable to run the EVAP leak diagnostic. DTC P1464 sets when the ECM sees the fuel level sensor signal voltage too high, which usually corresponds to an open in the sensor or its circuit, or a sensor reading stuck at the empty end of its range.
