Code Information

On Nissan vehicles the EVAP purge control valve and its solenoid valve together control the flow of fuel vapour from the charcoal canister into the intake. The Engine Control Module (ECM) energises the solenoid, which in turn allows the purge control valve to open and admit vapour. DTC P1493 sets when the ECM detects a fault in the purge control valve and solenoid valve circuit or operation, such as an open or short in the solenoid or the assembly not responding as commanded.
