Code Information

This fault code sets when the Engine Control Module (ECM) detects that the EGR valve position sensor signal is outside the expected range or responds incorrectly during EGR operation. The ECM compares the actual valve position from the sensor feedback against the commanded position and expects them to agree as the valve moves. When the feedback deviates beyond calibrated limits or responds too slowly, often because the valve sticks rather than because the sensor is dead, the ECM stores this code. Symptoms include rough idle, hesitation, pinging, increased emissions, and a check engine light.
