Boost Pressure High
P1512 — Boost Pressure High
System: Powertrain | Type: Manufacturer-Specific | Make: Toyota
P1512 is a manufacturer-specific powertrain diagnostic trouble code recorded for Toyota vehicles. It belongs to the P-prefix family of codes, which covers engine, transmission, emissions, or fuel-system faults.
When P1512 is stored, the module has detected a signal or supply voltage higher than the expected operating range.
Scanning & clearing: A generic OBD-II scan tool will usually read and clear powertrain (P) codes. For live data, freeze-frame capture, and bi-directional tests you may need a more capable scan tool that supports the vehicle's ECM protocol.
P1512 is a manufacturer-specific code. The same code string on a different make may have a different meaning. Always confirm the code's definition against the vehicle's service information for the specific make and model under test.
This fault code sets when the Engine Control Module (ECM) detects that actual turbocharger boost pressure exceeds the target value for the current engine load, throttle position, and engine speed. The ECM compares the commanded boost against the manifold absolute pressure or boost pressure sensor reading to watch for overboost. If the actual boost stays above the calibrated threshold for a set time, the ECM stores this code and usually cuts boost or power to protect the engine. The driver may notice a sudden power cut or surge, a limp or fail safe mode, and a check engine light.
