Code Information

This fault code sets when the Engine Control Module (ECM) detects a malfunction or communication error with the Transmission Control Module (TCM) over the CAN network. The ECM and TCM continuously exchange data such as engine load, torque, vehicle speed, and shift requests to coordinate engine and transmission operation. If the ECM receives invalid data, no response, or a fault signal from the TCM, it stores this code. The driver may notice harsh, delayed, or incorrect shifting, a transmission limp mode, and transmission and check engine warning lights.
