DTC B0053 records that the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) commanded airbag or seatbelt pretensioner deployment during a crash event while at the same time detecting a malfunction in one or more deployment loop circuits. The Airbag Control Module (ACM) sets this combined code when a firing command coincides with an open, a short, or an out of range resistance on a deployment loop, which can mean a device failed to fire correctly or that a circuit fault already existed at the moment of impact.
