Code Information

The air conditioning or HVAC control module monitors the right hand heater discharge temperature sensor to measure the temperature of the heated air leaving the right side vents. DTC B0131 sets when the module reads an out of range or implausible signal from that sensor circuit, typically an open, a short, or a resistance value outside the expected band. The sensor is a small negative temperature coefficient (NTC) thermistor whose resistance falls as air temperature rises, giving the module the feedback it needs to control heater output and blend door position on the passenger side.
