Code Information

The HVAC control module sets DTC B0409 when it detects that air mix (blend) door actuator 1 has failed to reach its commanded position within the expected travel range. The blend door actuator is a small DC motor with an internal feedback potentiometer that moves the door regulating the ratio of cold air from the evaporator to warm air across the heater core, controlling cabin temperature.
