Variable geometry and wastegate controlled turbochargers use an electronic actuator to move the vane mechanism or wastegate arm, and that actuator contains a position sensor reporting its actual position back to the ECM so closed loop control of boost is possible. Boost control position sensor B refers to the second such sensor in the system, which on twin turbocharger applications is normally the second turbocharger and on single turbocharger applications is often a redundant channel within the same actuator.
