Code Information

The immobiliser system uses a transponder chip in the ignition key to authorise engine starting. When the key is switched on, a reader coil around the ignition barrel energises the transponder, which transmits its code back to the immobiliser control module. That module passes a serial data message to the body control module, which compares the code against the value stored in memory and, if it matches, sends a prerelease password to the engine control module so starting is allowed.
