Immobiliser Status Lamp
P1633 — Immobiliser Status Lamp
System: Powertrain | Type: Manufacturer-Specific | Make: Hyundai
P1633 is a manufacturer-specific powertrain diagnostic trouble code recorded for Hyundai vehicles. It belongs to the P-prefix family of codes, which covers engine, transmission, emissions, or fuel-system faults.
Scanning & clearing: A generic OBD-II scan tool will usually read and clear powertrain (P) codes. For live data, freeze-frame capture, and bi-directional tests you may need a more capable scan tool that supports the vehicle's ECM protocol.
P1633 is a manufacturer-specific code. The same code string on a different make may have a different meaning. Always confirm the code's definition against the vehicle's service information for the specific make and model under test.
This DTC is set when the ECM detects a malfunction in the immobiliser status lamp control circuit. Specifically, the ECM monitors the control line responsible for illuminating the immobiliser warning lamp, often integrated into the instrument cluster. If the lamp fails to respond correctly, for example it stays off when it should be on or on when it should be off, or if there is an open or a short to ground or power in the control circuit, the ECM logs this fault. The engine will usually still start normally, but the immobiliser status indication to the driver is lost.
