Code Information

The intake air temperature sensor is a negative temperature coefficient thermistor monitored by the ECM through a pull up resistor, so signal voltage rises as air temperature falls. The ECM uses this reading to calculate air density and to trim fuel delivery, ignition timing, and knock protection strategy. P0113 sets when signal voltage exceeds the upper threshold for a calibrated period, which on an NTC circuit corresponds to very high resistance and therefore an implausibly cold indicated air temperature, commonly displayed at the bottom of the scale near minus 40 degrees Celsius.
