DTC P0120 relates to the throttle or pedal position sensor A circuit. This sensor measures the position of the throttle plate at the throttle body, or on electronic throttle vehicles the accelerator pedal, and reports it to the engine control module so the ECM can manage air intake and fuel delivery. P0120 sets when the ECM detects the sensor A signal is out of its normal range, erratic, or not matching the expected values during operation. When the code is set the vehicle may hesitate, idle roughly, surge, or drop into a reduced power limp mode, and a check engine lamp will illuminate.
