Code Information

DTC C1525 is stored when the Power Steering ECU determines that the steering torque sensor zero point is not properly calibrated or is missing. The zero point is the reference signal value the torque sensor produces when no steering input is applied, and the ECU uses this baseline to work out the direction and amount of assist to deliver as the driver turns the wheel. Because the assist calculation depends on an accurate baseline, the zero point must be relearned with a scan tool whenever the torque sensor, steering column, or ECU is disturbed.
