Code Information

The PCM monitors the Transmission Control Module (TCM) configuration and calibration data over the CAN network. DTC P163E is set when the PCM detects that the TCM software, calibration, or as built data is missing, corrupted, incompatible, or does not match the vehicle configuration. This fault is commonly logged following an incomplete programming event, incorrect module installation, or loss of memory data within the TCM. When set, transmission operation may be limited, default to a fail safe mode, or be inhibited until the TCM is correctly programmed and configured.
