Code Information

The Body Control Module (BCM) monitors the licence plate lamp output circuit to verify correct voltage and current flow when the lamps are commanded on. The BCM both drives the lamps and watches the circuit so it can report a fault if the load is lost or the circuit is shorted. DTC B3883 is set when the BCM detects an open circuit, short to ground, short to battery, or an abnormal current condition in the licence plate lamp circuit for a calibrated period, meaning it cannot properly control or monitor the lamps.
