Battery Sensor Lost Communication
U113E — Battery Sensor Lost Communication
System: Network Communication | Type: Manufacturer-Specific | Make: Jeep
U113E is a manufacturer-specific network communication diagnostic trouble code recorded for Jeep vehicles. It belongs to the U-prefix family of codes, which covers inter-module network communication (CAN, LIN, FlexRay, or similar) faults.
When U113E is stored, the module has detected a sensor-related fault — the reported value from the named sensor is out of spec.
Scanning & clearing: Network (U) codes report communication faults between modules. When diagnosing U-codes, checking the vehicle's CAN bus integrity, supply/ground at each module, and reading all modules for related faults is usually the first step.
U113E is a manufacturer-specific code. The same code string on a different make may have a different meaning. Always confirm the code's definition against the vehicle's service information for the specific make and model under test.
The Body Control Module or Powertrain Control Module communicates with the Intelligent Battery Sensor, a small module clamped to the negative battery terminal that measures battery voltage, current, temperature, and state of charge. This data is usually sent over a LIN bus and lets the charging system vary alternator output for battery condition and fuel economy. DTC U113E sets when the controlling module loses communication with the battery sensor for a calibrated period, receiving no valid messages. With the sensor offline the charging strategy defaults to a fixed mode, and the driver may no...
