Idle / PTO Circuit Open
P325A — Idle / PTO Circuit Open
System: Powertrain | Type: Manufacturer-Specific | Make: Ford
P325A is a manufacturer-specific powertrain diagnostic trouble code recorded for Ford vehicles. It belongs to the P-prefix family of codes, which covers engine, transmission, emissions, or fuel-system faults.
When P325A is stored, the module has detected an open (broken or disconnected) electrical path in the monitored circuit.
Scanning & clearing: A generic OBD-II scan tool will usually read and clear powertrain (P) codes. For live data, freeze-frame capture, and bi-directional tests you may need a more capable scan tool that supports the vehicle's ECM protocol.
P325A is a manufacturer-specific code. The same code string on a different make may have a different meaning. Always confirm the code's definition against the vehicle's service information for the specific make and model under test.
On Ford vehicles equipped with Power Take Off (PTO) or programmable idle control, the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) monitors the idle and PTO request circuit to detect a valid input signal when elevated idle or PTO operation is commanded. DTC P325A is set when the PCM detects an open circuit condition in the idle and PTO input circuit, meaning no voltage or an implausible signal is present when a request is expected. This prevents the PCM from recognising a PTO or high idle request and inhibits the associated engine speed control function. The driver or operator typically finds that the high...
