CAN Message Incorrect (Engine/Transmission Control Module)
C1613 — CAN Message Incorrect (Engine/Transmission Control Module)
System: Chassis | Type: Manufacturer-Specific | Make: Hyundai
C1613 is a manufacturer-specific chassis diagnostic trouble code recorded for Hyundai vehicles. It belongs to the C-prefix family of codes, which covers chassis, braking, steering, suspension, or stability-control faults.
Scanning & clearing: Chassis (C) codes are stored in the ABS, traction control, or stability-control modules. An enhanced or OEM-level scan tool is usually required to read and clear them.
C1613 is a manufacturer-specific code. The same code string on a different make may have a different meaning. Always confirm the code's definition against the vehicle's service information for the specific make and model under test.
On Hyundai vehicles, DTC C1613 is logged by the ABS/ESC control module when it receives invalid, implausible, or missing CAN bus data from another control module, most commonly the Engine Control Module (ECM) or Transmission Control Module (TCM). The fault is set when the received message does not conform to expected parameters, timing, or checksum values, or when communication is intermittently lost during vehicle operation. This condition prevents the ABS/ESC system from reliably using engine or transmission data required for stability and traction control functions.
