The vehicle was cutting out repeatedly when cold and was difficult to start.

The vehicle came in hot and the idle was high.
Reset the idle speed and left it overnight.

The next morning experienced the same starting and running problems, including a bad miss cold.

It sounded strange when cranking.
Was it low compression? The cylinders started to take up, running on two or three for a short time, before the idle stabilised.
