A friend of a friend rebuilt their turbo diesel (twice) and then found out what happened.

Problem Summary

VDJ200R Sahara.

The engine had been serviced by their own in-house mechanics (a trucking company) and the perforated metal sleeve had accidentally been removed with the oil filter. The filter subsequently collapsed and starved the engine of oil.
