Engine light on dash, vehicle will not rev above 3000rpm.


Customer noticed about 640km before arriving to our workshop

Code P0340 will not clear from ECU.

After cam sensor testing and replacement then clearing code from ECU vehicle intermittently drives OK for one or 2 drive cycles then intermittent misfires and starts logging either P0011 or P0340 and goes into limp mode.

When misfires occur bank 1 cam position on scan tool varies 60* cam advance. When tested with Pico scope cam sensor correlation between Bank 1 and Bank 2 stays relative to their 5* variance.

Tested Bank 1 Cam sensor found to be intermittently faulty, tested power supply to sensor, ground circuit and sensor wire to ECU all appear OK, tested ECU ground and power circuits , all appear OK. Suspect the Cam position sensor Bank 1 after testing with Nissan info.

Replaced faulty cam sensor bank 1. Scoped with pico both cam sensors against crank sensor with a coil reference. Sensor correlation between Bank 1 and Bank 2 stays relative to their 5* variance. but on scan tool when faults occur scan tool and ECU show 60* cam advance change spiking.

Have tested all circuits as per Nissan FSM scoped sensors, ECU powers and ground circuits, can't figure out why ECU is seeing 60* cam advance which is triggering limp mode but with no engine light on dash.
