Intermittant engine light on dash and limp mode.

Owner was experiencing an intermittent fault where engine light would come on and limp home mode entered. Initially was once or twice a month but becoming more frequent. Now vehicle was very unreliable. Sometimes stopping and cycling the key would solve, other times not.
