Customer Complaint

The engine is stalling as coming off the throttle or pulling up to lights.

Problem Summary

Holden has serviced vehicle every 10k, good service history. The problem is easy to reproduce. After the initial startup, while idling the EGR discontinues and the throttle body (IAFV) rests. Bring the engine up to 2000rpm and the EGR kicks in, IAFV begins some movement. Come off the throttle and in a fairly similar way each time it will wait a few seconds at idle, then give two low RPM kicks which it catches, slight black smoke out of the exhaust, stabilize for a few seconds, then cut out dead as if the IAFV has been closed shut or the crank angle sensor cuts out. No sign of a stumble, just a straight dead cut out. The engine restarts and runs fine.
