The vehicle will not start

The vehicle was towed in with no start. The indicator on the driver information display always shows the gear selector is in the park position regardless of which gear is selected. Moving the gear selector with force will sometimes allow the engine to start. A warning message displays after shutting down the engine {{pic1}}. The vehicle has a push-button start. The warning message appears once the engine is shut down and even after locking the vehicle with the remote.
