Difficult to change gears.

Problem Summary

The clutch reservoir was almost empty. It turned out that the clutch fluid had ended up in the nicely sealed bell housing, as the slave cylinder was leaking. After replacing the slave cylinder and numerous attempts to bleed the system the pedal was still soft and appears to have air trapped in the system.
