This report is from Andrew Tucker. It began as a TAT assist request. (Duratec 1.6L)

The vehicle was driven to the shops. Everything seemed normal, but it would not restart after stopping. The battery gave up.

The owner replaced the battery, but the vehicle would not restart. The engine would run for a few seconds at each key crank, would 'cough' then cut out. Roadside assist could find no faults.

We checked the vehicle's service history. During the last service, the owner was advised that the battery needed replacement but they declined.

The vehicle was towed to our workshop.
