The vehicle ran normally at idle and could freely rev in neutral, but under load it would not rev above approximately 2000 rpm. After driving about 500–600 m, the engine warning light illuminated, and the vehicle entered derate mode. During this period, it produced heavy black smoke and was very difficult to drive, even when manually shifting gears.
