The engine is noisy and running rough.

The vehicle presented with a rattly top end and rough running condition. Initial checks found the engine oil level critically low. After topping up the oil, the engine noise and rough running remained. No fault codes were stored, and misfires were random. The issue was ultimately traced to incorrect valve timing.
