The vehicle lost power returning from a long trip and stopped. It now starts but will not idle, stalling after approximately three minutes, and will not restart until cold.

Problem Summary

The vehicle experienced a sudden loss of power on a long highway trip and stalled. On subsequent attempts, the engine would start but stall after approximately three minutes of running and refuse to restart until fully cooled. The intake manifold gasket had been replaced due to a suspected vacuum leak, and the ECU had been sent away after signs of water damage were found — it was confirmed faulty and a refurbished unit was fitted, along with a new TFI module on the distributor.
