The vehicle intermittently failed to engage reverse gear, often requiring several attempts before reverse would select. The reverse light operated normally each time the gear lever was moved to reverse.

The reverse engagement failure occurred intermittently, both with the engine running and with the key on, engine off. There was no audible gear engagement when reverse was selected during a failed attempt, however after multiple selections the gear would eventually engage and the vehicle would drive normally in reverse.
