The temperature gauge intermittently cut out. The fault later became constant, with the gauge dropping to zero, the ABS warning lights coming on and the air conditioning dropping out.

A new engine coolant temperature sensor had already been fitted while the fault was still intermittent, but the fault returned and became constant. When the fault occurred the temperature gauge dropped to zero, the ABS and traction control lamps illuminated, the air conditioning clutch dropped out and the engine note changed, yet engine temperature remained steady in live data.
