The engine lacked power under load and struggled to climb a moderate hill in third gear.

The engine revved freely and the boost gauge showed about 7 psi, but it lacked torque. A new injection pump and fuel filter had not restored power. The vehicle also had an erratic tacho and a MIL-circuit fault; these remained unresolved when the low-power repair was reported.
