Customer Complaint

The engine would not always start. When it did start, it ran roughly and the tachometer was erratic.

Problem Summary

When the cooling fans ran with the ignition on, the engine would not start and a front camshaft solenoid pulsed erratically. Injector power was present, but there was no injector trigger. Connecting a G-scan to the under-bonnet 17-pin diagnostic connector and attempting communication stopped the fans and allowed the engine to start. Disconnecting the scanner while it was running improved the idle.
